All students have to do is step in the video booth and record a 30-second video about how their education will benefit their community. A committee from Listerhill will get together to decide on who will win the $5,000 and two $2,500 scholarships. Honoring the legacy and character of President Reagan, this program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Entering freshmen who apply to any undergraduate division of Washington University in St. Louis may apply for the Danforth Scholars Program.
HOW TO APPLY:
- Submit an application for admission.
- Log in to the WashU Pathway to submit a separate application for the Danforth Scholars Program.
- Write a brief answer (250 words) to the following question:
The Danforth Scholars program is looking for students with a strong commitment to community, and demonstrated initiative taking in leadership and service. Please share an example of your personal experience as a leader that would clarify why you would be a good fit for this community of scholars? - Write a short essay (250-500 words) on the following topic:
What matters to you? - Submit an additional (third) letter of recommendation from a member of the community who knows the student well.

JFK PROFILE IN COURAGE ESSAY CONTEST

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any student in grades 9-12 may submit an essay to be judged for this contest. All students must register online at the website listed above. There is no minimum ACT or GPA for this contest.
HOW TO APPLY:
- Essays can be no more than 1,000 words but must be a minimum of 700 words. Citations and bibliography are not included in the word count.
- Essays must be the original work of the student.
- Essays must describe an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. The official may have addressed an issue at the local, state, or national level. See Contest Topic and Information and Helpful Tips for Writing Your Essay for more information.
- John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Edward M. Kennedy are not eligible subjects for essays.
- Essays about past recipients of the Profile in Courage Award will be disqualified unless they describe an act of political courage other than the act for which the award was given.
- Essays about the senators in Profiles in Courage will be disqualified.
- Essays must have a minimum of five sources.

2nd place = $3,000
five finalists = $1,000 each
eight semi-finalists = $100 each
Ole Miss Honors College Application and Scholarship Application
Prior to applying to the Honors College, students need to apply for admission to the University of Mississippi. The online application to the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College for Fall 2018 entering freshmen is part of the Special Programs & Scholarship Application for the University of Mississippi, which becomes available July 1 or after you have applied for admission to the University (whichever is later). The Honors College Early-Action deadline is November 1 (applicants will be informed of our decision by December 20). Our regular deadline is 11:59 PM (CST) January 5, 2019.

GE REAGAN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Honoring the legacy and character of President Reagan, this program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Each year, this scholarship program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study, and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. In addition, Scholars are invited to participate in a special awards program.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Applicants must:
- demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship;
- demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent);
- demonstrate financial need;
- be citizens of the United States of America;
- be current high school seniors attending high school in the United States and
- plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.

UNA ROTC SCHOLARSHIP

DESCRIPTION: Applicants must: 1) Be a U. S. Citizen between the ages of 17 and 26 2)Possess a high school GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or have already earned a high school diploma 3) Have a minimum score of 920 on the SAT (verbal/math) or 19 on the ACT 4) Be active in your school, church, scouting, civic organizations, etc. 5) Have no civil convictions or be in trouble with law enforcement 6)Meet Army physical and fitness standards and agree to accept a commission and serve as an Army Officer in the Active Army, US Army Reserve, or Arny National Guard
AWARD AMOUNT: full tuition and fees for four years; $600 semester textbook stipend;$300 per month living expenses; UNA housing; paid summer training & internship
